I am thinking of getting sky. One of the questoins ist "to have Sky TV installed you need a fixed and operational telephone line which is capable of making and receiving calls, do you have one?"

Now I have a telephone line, but dont have a phone point close to the TV point.

Is this going to be a problem

You do not need a telephone line if you only want one box. You simply pay an extra €37.50 for whats called a manual connection.

If you decide you want multiroom then you will need both boxes connected to a telephone line permenantly.

You may be able to run a temporary line to activate your card and remove this afterwards to waiver the manual charge.

If you are getting multiroom then yes it is a problem. Sky sent callbacks, to make sure the multiroom is in the same house. One box is OK, just pay €37.50 for manual connection.

    Not intending to get Multiroom.

I could cobble a telephone extension line to the TV point. Will this be acceptable

Yes, you can cobble a telephone extension line to the TV point and you will get away disconnecting it, aas Sky eill not care, or you can pay the pat the extra €37.50 to be safe.
