I was having a brouse around and looking at the food diarys I starting thinking about my own eating habits I'm very much a comfort and boredom eater.

I'm wondering two things, are there many people with similar eating habits and how do you break them or is that even possible?

    Defo a boredom eater too!

My top tips are banning biscuits, sweets, crisps etc from the house and instead buying lots of herbal tea. Much better for you and especially handy in this weather when the idea of drinking cold water is not appealing. I also find that I'm less inclined to want treaty things with a cup of herbal tea than I would with a cup of scald.

think of something else to do when you're bored! and replace comfort food with a nice big cup of hot tea / chai. if you have to snack in front of the tv, choose more healthy things like raw veggie sticks and salsa or hummus instead of tortilla chips/crisps with a creamy dip... or lightly salted popcorn! Soup and stew is great healthy comfort food in this weather too.

i found weight watchers helpful for breaking bad eating habits because it replaces bad ones with 10 healthy ones. The only prob is keeping it up! If you're a comfort/boredom eater, do not have any food you find tempting in the house! Plan what you're going to eat ahead of time so that you don't grab a takeaway or something in a rush. I would say plan for a week's worth of meals-do your grocery shopping on Sunday and leave it at that. It will save you money because you'll be making your own lunches-make your own sandwiches but skip the mayo/salad cream or just a tsp of salad cream/light salad cream. Also bulk your meals up with veg!! If you're annoyed/bored etc, I would say do something positive to counteract your bad mood -go for a walk, call someone etc. I also find writing what I eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner down in a food diary stops me from overeating-you have to write EVERYTHING down though-even the little bites of food or else it wont work! I only found all this out through weight watchers so its worth considering :)
