See this bike on offer at merlin cycles. What do you guys think, is this good value, particularly as it is €115 cheaper than the standard Merlin Malt 1.

It doesn't appear that you can upgrade / customise the Ltd Edition as you can with the other bikes on the site so would this spec be suitable.

I;m just lookig for something entry level for tipping around Ballyhoura. I know a couple of guys on here have Malt 1's so I'd be interested in hearing your feed back.

I want to buy something soon as I'm sick of waiting on my emplyers to get the Bike2work scheme up and running and I'd say I have already spent on rentals what i would have saved if I had bought the bike right from the outset!

Merlins have a multi award winning reputation for good value. I've had three and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them especially for general trail riding like around the Ballyhoura trails. As far as I can see the spec on the two models looks pretty similar - differences in the finishing kit maybe but Raceface is good stuff. The only thing I'm not sure about is how good the fork is but its the same on both. I think Rockshox are generally pretty good, even the lower end ones and if you're not going to abuse the bike too much I'm sure they'll be fine. Be sure you know how much p&p will cost as it could be a bit expensive.
