so it seems that apple are going to offer us a some 'great' deals this friday.

from previous experience i've learned not to get too excited about this type of apple offer. you might see a tenner off on some things but thats about it.

Isn't this just an American thing? Black Friday and all that.

No there are token discounts on all Apple website stores.

Yep, from last year they extended the "Black Friday" deals to all their online stores... they were pretty crap last year though. Something like a tenner on an iPod Touch and a max discount of €80 I think on a 2K+ iMac...

Better than nothin' though, I suppose.

I'd love to get one of the new iMacs. My student discount plus an additional €80+ discount would make for a nice saving. But I'm broke.

How much is the student discount?

I'm entitled to the "Apple on campus" discount (for certain colleges) which is 10 percent. But I think the standard student discount is 7 percent.

I got 90 euro off my unibody MacBook in last year's Black Friday sale. Better than a kick in the teeth.

IIRC Apple didn't allow you to use these "Black Friday" deals in conjunction with any other offers, so it'd be a case of seeing what gets you more off and picking it. I'd be willing to bet the student discount still offers more off.

Either way, all I want is a cheap(er) Magic Mouse :D

I think previously 'Black Friday' offered something in the region of €100 off any new iMac, hopefully tomorrow it will be something similar.

You don't believe it is tomorrow in New Zealand? That seems like quite a good reduction, probably roughly the same as €100-€150 off the cost of similar iMacs here.

I never know what time it is anywhere else in the world :p

I think it's legit, the reductions seem to be on par with what would be expected.

Max discount is €91 on the iMacs - not too bad I guess, especially on the entry level ones. No new Macs for me, I'm only looking for a Mini right now and they were not discounted :(. Still, there's discounts on third party accessories too: I picked up a Morphie Juice Pack Air for the iPhone and a 16GB LaCie "iamakey".

As expected the discounts are unimpressive. I get a further discount through a group scheme but even with that its still not great. Ah well.

I ordered a 13" MBP today and rang to check if iWork on the pre install option could be moved over to my iMac as well. It ended up that the Family Edition of iWork was €68 today so I'm getting it to install legit on all my machines for cheaper than it's normal RRP:)

Discounts aren't great but it's better then nothing. I bought a magic mouse for my iMac (hate the way the mighty mouse scrapes across the surface of my desk) but used the edu discount as it was worth more.

Best I could get MM for was €63 :(
