ARe the prices on carzone, autotrader etc pretty much what the cars sell for or can you make an offer? Theres a huge difference in what appear to be very similar cars ie: same make, year, milage etc Looking at cars around 3k mark, what would you offer?

what do you mean, at this time of year? I was wondering if it is better to wait until january as it would be a year older even then- is this a good idea?

There are a lot of dreamers on most car sites, Never be afraid to make an offer, most people expect it and some will advertise the car at a higher price to allow for this.

Frankieb personally I'd be more inclined to use donedeal.ie, gumtree or the buy and sell if I were you and especially on a budget of 3k. For the most part the prices of cars on carzone seem pretty saucy.

Pick a make/model you like. Find the cheapest good example. This is (a little above) the real value of all of the cars.

Feel free to offer that value to anyone who's selling a similar car, if their car is priced higher and there's not a good reason, then it's overpriced.

Don't bother looking at prices and taking 20% off. The value of an average car is absolute, not relative.
