    Hi folks

Hifi in my car has no means to play MP3, so I want to get a media player that will transmit to an unused FM frequency that I can tune to.

Is there an Archos (or similar) that has the following:

    - touch screen
    - fast boot-up
    - built-in FM transmitter
    - means to accept 12V DC in from the car
    - will play DVB TV, DAB radio as well as the usual MP3/MP4/etc stuff

I *think* the Archos-5 will suit but... what add-on is needed to get the power-supply right ?

I am not necessarily sold on the Archos gear just yet, but it does look good

    Thanks
    Frank

mp3 players don't usually have transmitters built in. if they did they would kill the battery in about an hour anyways. buy whatever player you like and then buy a cheap transmitter that runs from the cigarette lighter socket. you can get one for 5 euro delivered on dealextreme.com

glasso, some of the 'no-brand' chinese players do, some even come with a cigarette socket charger, basically, it looks like a small mobile phone plugged into the cigarette\charger. I'll have a root for links, getting deja-vu, I think I saw one on Adverts a good while back..

Is this the kind of player the OP wants?

TeckNet FM29A USB Flash Memory MP3 Modulator (Amazon)

Less than £10 Sterling.. and seems to just 'do the job', storing audio files on SD cards. The reviews are generally positive and there's a lot of players based on the same design, once you start searching Amazon.

well yeah the transmitter that I bought from deal extreme will take an sd card too but I thought that the op was looking for a decent brand player - archos etc. best solution imo would be to buy a decent player and then a transmitter separately... the navigation / file choosing from an sd card on one of those transmitters is just sequential which isn't great.
