Anyone know how to activate the car alarm on an 99 Audi A4? Its not an after-market alarm. According to the car manual, there is a button located on the drivers side underneath the drivers seatbelt. When I activate this and then open the door handle when the car is locked, the alarm does not trigger. Should it sound by doing that? Does the alarm only go off if I insert a key into the keyhole of the door? I thought they should go off if car is interfered with in any way. Anyway I never managed to activate it at all. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Sounds like a broken alarm?

The button is to turn off the interior sensors not arm the alarm, the alarm is armed once the car is locked with the central locking.
