I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience dealing with the Rights Commissioner?

Having serious problem with a former employer who cancelled my salary cheque and now ignores my calls and emails when trying to get an explanation. Don't have any options left really so am sending a letter tomorrow informing her I'm escalating this asap. Does anyone know how long the whole process takes?

I called Rights Commissioners - they're very helpful & have promised to fasttrack it- it usually takes about 6 months from sending in forms - sent mine through last week so fingers crossed. I'd recommend calling first as they're very informative as to how it all works. Depending on how stubborn your boss is; (apparently some pay up after getting letter from the rights commissioners) it can go to a hearing, then if you get a successful outcome but still don't get paid you can get an enforcement order filed in the court - think its pretty straightforward so fingers crossed. It can take a while from start to finish but its worth it in the long run - i hope! Best of luck with yours ;)

That's great thanks a mil! I started a thread in the work problems section if ya want a read, Id say I've a pretty strong case! It doesn't matter to me how long it takes it's the principle at this stage!
Best of luck with yours and thanks again for the update! Let me know what happens. :)
