starts this Wed (25th Nov) @ 8pm. Register in the clubhouse from ca. 1915 onwards, would be great to see a few Northside Boardsies there. The first round is 3m, the other 5 or so races range btwn 1-3 miles.

Going to try and make it for the 3 miler on Wed night. Hope the weather clears before Wed evening. I'll aim for a sub 21. Haven't been out too much since DCM.. must start a training log.

Where is the club located? - I know the Raheny area.

    Glad I just spotted this.

I was thinking about it myself, if you do race maybe do it as a tempo and don't get injured we have a small team on sunday remember :0

Exactly, that'll give me a chance to beat you Robin!

    Christeb, Is there a fee?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,435 ✭✭✭christeb

Yep, normally it's €5 per race, or you can pay for the series.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,793 ✭✭✭Macanri

    Thanks for the posts Christeb.
18'59" - Delighted :D. Pushed my self very hard. Started a bit too fast. Splits for the 3 miles were 6'04", 6'20" & 6'25". So that would be positive splits eh - not the way alot here do them!
My HR was  195avg, 203max:eek::eek::eek: I said that to some one after the race and they said "Thats heart attack stuff" :o

So, will prob be back next Wed for the next race. I think that's a 2 miler?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 408 ✭✭jinka

thats an amazingly high heart beat, but its great you can get it that high. Whats your resting rate?

Ran it myself, great workout and course. Not going great but cest la vie!!Was hard with the wind and cold but no rain for once.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,144 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

I finished in 18:22 which I'm happy enough with. Wasn't as windy as I had been expecting this evening, I had to make sure to keep the guys in front of me in sight all the way round or I'd have got lost on the course.

Glad everyone enjoyed it - got 18.44 myself (5.57 / 6.30 / 6.15 + change). Next week is indeed a 2 miler, then a break til after Christmas. 20 quid for 8 races is great value too!

    Edit: Results

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,793 ✭✭✭Macanri

@jinka: My resting HR is about 45 normally. Assuming that the resting heart rate would be taken when your just sitting around chillin. Wahy do you say that it is great that I can get the HR that high?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 408 ✭✭jinka

It means you have a pretty big heart and you can easily go into the red. You are in your mid 30s so thats very good. Mine is lower apx 185 highest im afraid!

My max is 205 and my average for my best 5k this year was 185 but in saying that I'm known for not being able to dig deep :D

You young'uns and you fast beating hearts.

Just had a look back through some HR stats from some races and I'm not getting a max above 180 anymore, I did measure my resting at 37 last week though. Guess I'm just more chilled out than the rest of you. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,793 ✭✭✭Macanri

Thanks for the replies on the HR. I don't feel so concious now.

Round 2 tonight lads, might still be of interest to some who couldn't make it last week. 7 races left (the rest are after Xmas) and only €20 to enter the lot.
