led conversion

I did all the usual led conversions dash illumination and dome lights(blue). Then I drilled a hole in behind the the door release lever and installed a blue led there and put 8 inch neons deep into the footwells so the source of the light cannot be seen. and replaced the puddle lights with intense blue leds. I wired the whole lot into the interior dim down circuit.

The effect I think is pretty cool the door release recceses glow blue and the footwells too. I think the fact the light source is hidden is important to the effect.

When you open the car it is bathed in a very subtle blue light and the whole lot dims down slowly. Well I think it looks cool.

Cheap conversion but a lot of work removing door cards and hiding wiring etc.

you will probably be wrong, it's a very subtle effect. it's a diy job that took a bit of imagination and i am proud of it. so save your smugness.

Still, It's an A3, A4 or Passat, isn't it? ;) Fair play though, the fairy lights effect is in vogue lately. If you still feel offended, post up a pic, if it's good you'll get compliments. Hell I'll even compliment your work :D

Edit: Oh feck, I thought it was a headlight mod. Footwells? Oh dear oh dear. Seriously though, maybe this'd get more appreciated in Modified Motors.

I'll take some during the week, I doubt they will do justice to the effect. When weather improves a bit.

The weather won't improve, and it'd be better to do it in the dark.

The footwell lights sound like whats in the footwells of my Levin. Blue courtesy lights that dim down slowly when doors are shut..
