Sky+HD and regular Sky box (multiroom) - phone line?

    Hi guys,

I got Sky+HD multiroom installed there last week and the installer (lovely guy!) kindly ran a couple of temporary phone cables to both boxes for me for the install. All went fine and later that day I disconnected them planning to get a couple of those wireless extender things.

Now, I never quite got around to that and after a wee or so of uninterrupted viewing I'm wondering if I should bother at all?

I understand they are required because the second box (multiroom) is subsidised so Sky needs to make sure the two boxes / viewing cards are in the same location. That's fine and I completely understand it.

But, what will happen if I leave the phone lines disconnected? Will I just get a call every six weeks asking me to connect the boxes to the phone line? Will they cancel the second sub? What'll happen? :-)

    Cheers,
    Rob

you may (or may not)be charged the full sub price for the second box..

some on here have not been charged others get messages to reconnect phone lines.

After about two weeks with no phone line plugged in you will get a message saying your sky service is about to terminate. Plug in the extra phone lines and off you go again

It gets worse than that, you'll be sent a warning letter saying connect the phone line or you will be charged full package sub ( ie the full amount you are already paying for your first box ) on the second box. If not connected you get a second warning letter, and if still not connected the third letter is to inform you that full sub for both boxes is going onto your direct debit.

Having said that, alot of people with multiroom and no phone lines to the extra boxes have never recieved letters or extra on their direct debit. I guess you could always wait and see if they send you a letter before you go to the expence.
