Couple of WWE-Sky updates you might be interested in
I just received the latest Weekly Amendments regarding Sky Sports and there are some interesting news WWE related:
The new deal between WWE and Sky seems to be finalized because the programs are into January's schedule.
Furthermore, WWE Superstars will start airing on Sky Sports Saturday December 12th at 10pm on Sky Sports 3. It still is AFTER SmackDown's first airing but it's no real biggie most of the time. That could always change though.
Another new addition to Sky's WWE schedule is "This week in WWE", which airs on Eurosport in mainland Europe. First airing January 3rd at 7.30am on

    Sky Sports 3.
All the rest of the programs seem confirmed at the actual airing times, from Raw live to ECW to Vintage Collection and so on.

EDIT: Correction regarding Superstars: First airing on SKY 1 Friday December 11th at 5 pm, then same thing for the following episode December 18th, so we might see a pattern

Cool that we get Superstars, pointless that we get "This Week in WWE", we have WWE Experience.

What about PPV's, are they all on Box Office or are some on Sky Sports??

I wouldn't mind too much if the price actually corresponded to the UK price. We're paying about 25% more than they are ever since the Sterling fell compared to the Euro

gotta feel bad for the americans tho.. their paying $54.95 for ppvs next year, good to see a wrestling show on sky 1 aswell

So is Superstars airing permanently on Sky 1 now? That's cool. Us with just basic digital finally get something other than Experience on Sundays at 11am!

From what I can tell here: http://data.skyprogrammeinformation.co.uk/wtv.php?week=328&chan=SKD1# , Superstars will be on Sky1, Fridays at 5pm with a replay on Sunday at 10am

I had a look at the http://data.skyprogrammeinformation....328&chan=SKD1# site for SS3 in the New Year and found no WWE programmes on it at all.

If this is true, this is really bad news.:(

Maybe WWE are stalling to make Sky put every PPV on Box Office?

TNA is on free tv while WWE are on paid tv in places like britain and Ireland. The regular tours they have over here are one of WWE's biggest growing money earners now, so they are doing okay.

Id say its a case of both sides holding out for the best deal possible. at the end of the day WWE will have seen what happened to UFC and Setanta, so there hardly going move from the most stable network with the largest viewership, especially in one of their most lucrative markets..
what other options do they have to Sky really?

Is the UFC/Setanta thing about Setanta going under or something else??

WWE don't really have any other option but Sky. WWE will never go back to free-to-air after the Channel 4 disaster (Royal Rumble 2000 anyone), ESPN is a no-go due to no PPV channel which WWE wants and Eurosport is a mix of both of them

yeah exactly WWE will obviously be cautious with any other british sports channels..

if i remember correctly at the start of the year there was talk of WWE moving to Virgin1 and Virgin Media

Well, Setanta were a joke with money tbh, they always went in with over-the-top offers that they couldn't pay. No, I'm not Setanta bashing.

WWE/Virgin Media?? Right now, taken from Vince's theme song , "No chance in Hell"

channel 4 outbid sky for 4 of the 12 ppvs, and the channel 4 bosses freaked out when Mae Young exposed herself live at the Rumble in 99(?)
from then on the ppvs were on a tape delay, and also they had breaks during the live feed..

Bingo, it was during the 2000 Royal rumble when Mae did that and it turned out to be a disaster. They bleeped curse words at 2am in case there was kids watching, made the blood go all pixalated and took a break during the best part of matches which had concluded when we got back. After RR '00, C4 decided to start all PPVs they had at 1.40 instead of 1 so they could put their own breaks in without losing any matches.

My guess that the PPV's would be Royal Rumble, Mania, Possibly Extreme Rules, Summerslam, Night of Champions, Hell in a Cell, Survivor Series and TLC

If that's right: 1) it's a lucky guess and 2) the last 5 PPVs are all on from August, which means, from SSlam to HiaC, it's all on Box Office and from SSeries to the Rumble, it's all on Box Office. 6 PPV's on Box Office from August to January

The WWE quarterly financial reports would suggest otherwise? I am sure the last or possibly the statement previous to this named the UK as their major customer base outside Northern America.

TheCandystripes is, from what I can tell, completly pro-TNA. Outside of America, the UK is their biggest market. This is followed by Australia, Europe, Latin/South America and Asia (not in that order)

thats because WWE's house shows in Europe esp in Ireland are a complete joke. The last wwe show I went to in the 02 Arena last April had the worst atmosphere ever, no interaction with the fans, the matchs were terrible. The WWE superstars save their energy for TV. TNA on the other hand come to Europe and give amazing house shows, all the wrestlers wrestle to a ppv standard and there is a fantastic atmosphere. TNA is doing way better than wwe in tv ratings here but unfortunately this is not the case when it comes to live shows. It was a real shame seeing the 02 Arena quarter filled in October to an amazing TNA show yet if the WWE came over and put on a few dark-style matchs the place would be packed.

yeah exactly WWE will obviously be cautious with any other british sports channels..

Why does it have to be shown on a sports channel anyway? It's not a sport, it's entertainment and should be on an entertainment channel. Problem with wrestling is though, it's a bit "low-brow" so someone like BBC would never show such a thing and of course as was mentioned, even Channel4 got nervous. I thought Ch4 actually had a 4yr deal and the final two years were bought out...

Are parents actually buying these for their kids? Are their eyes not getting a bit too big for their bellies like? Surely anyone capable of using a search engine is watching most PPVs on a stream somewhere or downloading them the next day.

The bloody good aul days when the 12 PPVs were on Sky Sports and you had about 5hours of wrestling on Sky1 at the weekend!

Apart from the legal issues not everyone is online with the speed needed.

I would buy a DVD over the Box Office showing myself.

I don't know hwy they don't do a season ticket or multiple PPV package to make it worth people's while buying them.

I'm gonna guess that he's pro-TNA, anti-WWE. To my knowledge, WWE always sell out their house shows getting 3,000 to 10,000 depending on venues

    From http://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/wi/2009/1031/457294/index.shtml
Here are some recent WWE attendance figures courtesy:
10/24 in State College, PA: 4,000 fans.
10/25 in Pittsburgh, PA (PPV): sellout of 13,562 fans.
Here are some recent TNA attendance figures courtesy:
10/23 in Chicago, IL: 450 fans.
10/24 in Racine, WI: 600 fans.
10/25 in Green Bay, WI: 800 fans.

    From http://www.wrestleview.com/news2009/1258677909.php

    TNA attendance:
11/13 in Wayne, NJ: 450 fans.

11/14 in Scranton, PA: 500 fans.

11/15 in Orlando, FL (Turning Point PPV): 1,100 fans.

PPV prices for us are very steep compared to the Brits.

It depend's if I want to buy a PPV on the card. The option of buying the DVD is always there though.

I'm sure Sky had a 3 for 2 offer on PPV's last year with No Mercy, Survivor Series and Armageddon.

I've checked (sorry) and TNA is on the German version of Sky Sports so it's not free-to-view.

Considering TNA is taped in Florida, these attendaces are awful.

    http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/stories/Tons_Of_WWE__TNA_Ratings__Event_Attendance_Fi.shtml

9/27 in Miami, FL (house show) drew only 700 fans.

9/28 in Lakeland, FL only drew 600 fans in a 10,000 seat building.

TNA isn't on Sky Sports, that's why it's watched by more people. More people have Bravo, and now Virgin1, hence, more people watch the horrific Vince Russo Bran Fart that is TNA.
