Jesus... I don't know whether to spend next Tuesday testing my car's speed and handling, or just steer clear of the roads altogether, just in case everybody else decides to do the same.

Awesome, I was thinking of giving that 'arab road skiing' a go heading the wrong way down the motorway. Tuesday looks like a good day for it now. :D

No, you need to be given the notice on the spot.

They're saying "may" cos they're not allowed to say they won't!

    No you dont!
And remember you can just be summons to appear in court instead of being giving a fcpn and thats what is going to happen;)

So, if I understand correctly, the garda wont give you 2 penalty points on the spot, he'll just summons you to appear in court at a later date when the judge may dish out the points, which they usually dish out in 4's.

Points are only doubled really when a person does not pay their fcpn and is summons to court.

I presume bus lanes are a free for all on Tuesday now as a result?! If they cant be arsed enforcing PP offences then bus lanes wouldnt even be worth taking their notebook out for!
