Been a lot of changes in the pricing of new cars over the past few weeks, and I know there are still a few more manufacturers to declare where they are going, but there are some rumuors doing the rounds.

Can anyone who's better connected confirm or deny some rumours for me?

Apparantly Toyota are dropping their pricing across the range

Mercedes are planning on increasing their pricing by 1-1.5% in Feb

BMW are planning a price increase in March, after dropping their pricing only a few weeks ago

Anyone heard anything, or can confirm any of the above?

I think its a good strategy to announce that there are increases coming. IMO, there are lots of potential buyers out there but with price reductions coming so often, only a fool would buy. If BMW & Merc try to get the word out that they are finished with cuts and are increasing in the new year, it might encourage more buyers to get in there for january.
I dont think that they have any interest in actually increasing prices in reality though.

The toyota story was in the times motoring supplement on Wednesday last. They are dropping their prices.

    Story here:

Think any price increases depend on exchange rate movements. Thats probably the first thing to look at when deciding this.

Wow, cos the market for Corolla petrols and Land Cruiser commercials is huge

We were wrong about Land Cruiser Commercial, there is €2,170 off Corolla petrol plus free road tax and the use of €10,000 worth of prize bonds.

VW announced the following: "price on the popular Golf models have been reduced by 10% whilst ESP (stability control) has been added across the range. Prices for the Passat have fallen by 11% whilst the Comfortline and Highline models also benefit from up to €1,500 additional specification."

Kia Motors Ireland have announced significant price reductions for their Picanto, Rio and cee’d models. Picanto has been reduced by
    €1850, Rio by €1500 and cee’d models by €2000.

Lexus: "Lexus Ireland today announced a highly competitive pricing structure across its range for 2010, together with the introduction of new model year changes.

The popular IS220d S-design reduces in price from €38,340 to €35,480, a reduction of €2,860 or 7.5%, while the top of the range LS460 reduces from €126,980 to €109,950, a reduction of €17,030 or 13.4%. The reductions across the Lexus range average 9.0%.

The IS220d moves from band D to band C, with a CO2 output of 148g/km, with annual road tax of €302. In January 2010, Lexus will also introduce a front wheel drive version of RX Hybrid, starting from €55,500 and emitting just 140g CO2/km which places it in tax band B, meaning road tax of only €156 per year.

It should be noted that these price changes do not involve any reduction in specification levels."

There's only one little problem though, nobody's lending money to buy new cars, are the manufacturers doing deals on finance? I know of people with good secure jobs that were shot down for loans recently. It now seems you have to have a state job to get a loan, did anyone else here this?

VW have their own bank, so they are your best bet for new car finance and they are at 6.75%. They are a German bank, so aren't in as much of a mess as ours are....

Surely the customers possible inability to repay and low residuals are an issue too.

No matter how hard they try it's going to be too little too late and even if the government bring in the scrappage scheme it's not going to help much as the damage to the motor trade here is now terminal.

you could be right, i have a state job and had no hassle getting a loan for the full value of a used car recently, i've heard of people with other jobs being turned down or being asked to come up with 10% of the car's value.

Proper order, anyone who can't raise 10% of the purchase price of a car should not be buying one. It's that sort of lunacy that got us to where we are now!
