I always hear people saying that drinking hot water and lemon is great for flushing out the system, but just wondering if there is any truth in this? Is it the hot water or the lemon that does the business? I can't see how hot water is any better than cold water!

I hate drinkning cold water in winter, so thinking hot water may be the way to go.

The basics are kinda simple but small bit dangerous.

The option of having it an hour before the meal is better with the exception of the morning meal. It fills you up which lessens the need to fill your stomach and helps breakdown whats on the way down to your stomach later

Having it in the morning is as the other poster said a nice softer laxitive(if such) where it helps break down all the bad stuff inside you thats there since overnight.

While your body kinda shuts down at night there is no difference but what it really does is trick your stomach into thinkin that food is on its way and as such starts working. It great but be sure to eat a proper breakfast a bit after otherwise you will get hunger pangs later along with crampings.

As I understand it, warm (not hot) water is less of a "shock" to your system than cold water, so that's why it's encouraged.

The other side to this is that drink cold water burns much more calories

And apparently the acid in lemon is bad for your teeth

I wouldn't say it's much of a shock really, but water can only be osmotically absorbed by the body when it is at body temperature, so it will be subsumed quicker

Maybe if it was consumed in every single drink you had... but I'd say once every morning would be grand, I'm sure teeth come up against far worse during the course of the day!

The hot water will get absorbed to your bloodstream quicker than cold and I think lemon is a natural diueretic. A good tip is to try herbal tea in morning instead of you really hate the hot water and lemon. The pu'erh tea tastes horrible but it will stop overeating because you have to drink it so often during the day! Green tea is good too but chamomile tea is my fave because it tastes kind of sweet. I also find apple cider vinegar tablets (in any healthfood shop) good when dieting-you take two in morning and thats it. They basically serve same function as the hot water and lemon but without hassle of drinking pint of hot water! lol.

Yeah but the difference would be negligible though at best.
