Can someone point me in the right direction, I have a Sky Digibox the I plan to connect for FTA. Can this be done and what / where do I need to do / look? I don't have the Sky card for it anymore. Dish has Quad LNB and cable ran to box. I have heard that you used to be able to get a FTV card from the UK, is this still possible and what is needed to get one?

    Cheers.

just take the card out of the box, unplug the box from the wall and plug it back in. It should come back with the UK EPG with BBC1 on 101, BBC2 on 102 etc. Then add all the free channels to your favourites. You don't need a FTV card - this was just for getting C4 and Five when they were encrypted, but they're not anymore.

Cheers, the box has been unpluged for about 4 years now so it "should" just come up.

you will need to add/watch Channel 5 and Ch.4 +1 as 'other channels'.
see my website www.british-tv-in-france.co.uk for all details. ( there is also a link to order a FTV Card, but ONLY to a UK address.

PS. you may well need to perform a 'FORCED SOFTWARE UPDATE' as the box has been unplugged for so long.
    this is done by:
With the TV switched on......Whilst holding the back up button on the BOX pressed in , turn off and then turn on the digibox at the mains, after approx 20 seconds 4 coloured lights on the front of the digibox will lightup and the message re software update will be displayed on the TV. at this point let go of the button and go make a cup of tea. once the update is completed the box will switch itself off and then you can start it as per usual.

I had the Digbox plugged in the weekend as I had problems with ny Sky+, cables broke and dish moved, which blew itself back into place... I think it updated, but I will carry out the proceedure you mentioned. Thanks.

I have a similar setup to OP but when I try to access 'other channels', it tells me to 'insert sky viewing card'. Can this be bypassed?

it sounds like the 'parental control' is switched on. you need to switch this off which could be problematic if you dont have a card and know the pin number. if you have a 'mate' with an active Sky card who knows their pin number, borrow their card insert it in your digibox and then you would be able to access and switch off the parental controls, and then afterwards you would be able to add 'other channels' etc.
