How many "accident blackspots" are there in the country? If the most dangerous 1000 say could be indentified , would it be worth treating them as special cases and traffic light them as one way stretches, put obvious cameras in or put in obsticles in to slow traffic down?

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

Maybe not the whole one way traffic lights thing, those are annoying.

But youre absolutely right something should be done.

We spend a few million on tv rights to games, we could throw a few more quid into keeping people from dying pointlessly..

In fairness some of the reduction in accidents has already come about from directing resources towards places that are rated poorly in the Euro RAP survey.

No, not 'cameras' or 'obstacles' - FIX THE ROAD so its not dangerous!

I dont disagree but if we are talling about a country road where a house for instance forces a sharp bend in it, wont it come down to a choice of spending 100K versus a million?

Spend the million - you can put all the cameras you want in there and there will still be another crash, costing far more than a million in compensation / damage / societal costs.
