    Hi Jayoo

The guy on here you are talking about is "Mickk" and his web site/company is called http://www.irishlifting.com

I have never dealt with him myself, but quite a few of the fourm members have and are all full of praise for him, his goods and the service he provides.

You could drop him a PM or give him a call on 01-475 9529. I believe he is based in the Sandyford Industrial Estate and also has a gym in Camden St, where you can pick smaller items up from it that suits you better.

    Best Regards,

    M

I'd say if you are planning on using it for deads you may need to get another couple of 20's extra at least, even taking into consideration the extra 2 you are ordering

Not to hijack this thread, anyone know a good place to get a 2nd hand Olympic weight set?

Or 25kgs, I think in a thread a while ago people were saying Mickks 25's were the correct/recommended diameter to raise the bar for deadlifts. I think with more expensive brands the 20's might be.

If you don't have the money now I would ask to swop the 20's for 25's and pay the difference.

    the order has been made:D

    In the end went for

Bench which can go incline, have a marcy bench at home, but done trust it.

140kg iron olympic barbell set, would have liked the rubber one but feck it

    2 20kg rubber plates

and on advice from you guys 2 25kg iron plates.

have actually built my own power cage so hopefully it wont break and kill me

    building weird sh1t
Nothing weird about the Professor Schmidt Automatic Exerciser -which I might have a go at making.
The Automatic Exerciser feels great for deadlifts, SLDLs, curls, Hack squats, rows, etc. Prof. Schmidt intended his unit to offer a large load. This puppy works you hard.

Does the Automatic Exerciser work? With the lever arm fully extended and the chain connected at the rearmost (of three) anchor points, 20 pounds on the sleeve results in 117 pounds at the pull point. That does not include the 5 pounds for the chain, hardware and handle. Fill the sleeve with 10-pounders and your effective load will be 883 pounds; use quarters and it's 2199 pounds. Use 100's and we're looking at a 7025-pound pull.

You realise thats a 6ft bar? most on sale are 7ft and I think many proper power racks and benches etc will not take a 6ft bar, but I may be wrong.

Is anyone else getting a authentication message bar for fractionalplates.com when they go onto this thread? Its pretty weird.

That is from my old post with pics in it, it is too old for me to edit so I'll ask a mod to take out the links.

Apparently the owner of the site passed away and it may have been made private after that.

Same question, anywhere in ireland with a similar price? I rang all local stores but all quoting over a 100E more.

And you relise that one is in sterling and is only 105kg????

So approx 265 euro + delivery costs for 85kg plates, a 7ft bar (20kg) and two dumbell handles.

Irishlifting is 290 with free delivery for 120kg of weights and a 20kg 7ft bar.

I'd rather the extra 35kg of weights for a cheaper price over the dubbell handles

I think you meant 140kg. I agree that Irish-lifting is the way to go.

the irish powerlifting ass used to sell to lifters one time, 2 x 50kg are better for deadlifting than 4 x 25 kg.

Not really... 50kg plates are a MASSIVE pain in the ass to move around and put on bars, you need to be really strong to put them on a squat bar and they're limited in use to when you're lifting 120kg. And to get to that point, you have to load plates and take them back off again before putting the 50's on....

I just hate 50kg plates. They're a pain the ass.

85Kg plates is fine for me to start with and i need dumbbell handles. I can always pick up plates as i need them.

irish lifting is E289 for 140kg inc bar and E99 for dunbell handles
    Delivery E50

    Total 438

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/105Kg-TRI-GRIP-Olympic-Weights-Set-w-Dumbbell-Handles-/110661204678?pt=UK_Strength_Training&hash=item19c3ebfac6

    229 +35(delivery) sterling
    Total E303

Dont need the extra weight and wouldnt cost me E135.

    Thanks for the advice though.

That say 35 pounds plus 20 pounds for addional items. you you may get charged more if they are boxed separately.

Well if you need oly dumbells handles you need them. I was surprised at the price of the Irishlifting dumbell handles, but i imagine they are high quality.
By the way, the ebay ones don't come with collars, so you'll have a hard time keeping the weight on.

Let us know what the total spend ends up being and what the quality is like. We all love a good deal

If you were considering this option, you'd just add E112 worth of other items to your order and qualify for the free delivery - say 2 * 25kg plates and 2 * 5kg plates. With dumbbell handles AND a bar, the more weight plates you have, the less likely you are to need to switch plates from one bar to the other for every excercise.

The end result would be that, with Irish Lifting, you'd be paying 205 euro extra for 100kg extra weight.

Has anyone used the oly DB handles?
I got screw on standard ones, I'd imagine the oly ones would be a bit awkward?? But I've never seen a set so anyone got a set and could let me know how they are. I'd nearly buy a pair for ease of use.

A six foot oly bar wouldn't fit on my power rack at home, taking the actual bar length into account, the handle part of the 7ft bar is about 4 to 6 inches over the rack width.

I have Oly DB handles and they ok to use, no issues with them.

As for the 6' bar not fittign on yoru rack, are you sure?

I have a 6' training bar (8kg) which will fit on my cage (Heavy Power cage from irish lifting). It seems to be the collars that take the plates are shorted, not the knurled portion of the bar (between the collars at each end) I would have assumed that all 6' bars would be made like this.

Ah my bad ^ ^, I would have thought they shortened the inner part.

    Where did you buy it?
    Irishlifting sell two 6ft bars.

    Straight bar 6ft
    and
    6ft Grip bar

The grip bar is described as 50" grip length so it fits on racks, I'm don't know if the straight does. But seems strange to have a seconf 6ft bar if they were the same

    Good price for delivery.
My point was that 2 spring collars aren't going to be enough. 2 dumbells = 4 collars. These will only be a few quid more.

I got the 6' bar from buykettlebelldublin. I got it a while ago with 2 x 5kg bumpers (same site) when I was introducing my niece to squatting and deadlifting. Bought it mostly for the weight (only 8kg) tbh.
