As i cant post in the soccer forum i will throw this at the mercy of boards.ie after hours......

Seems to me that when it looked like certain "big nations" were on the cusp of not qualifying for the world cup, Platini and his yes men changed the rules regarding seeding, as we are all aware. Now, after the match i got into a conversation with a friend of mine and he reckons that it is not beyond the realms of possibility that there may or may not be a certain amount of favouritism shown twards these so called "big nations" in regard to decisions on the field. His arguement is based on 2 french players being blatantly offside and no call from the linesmen, and themost blatant handball since Ballack (he thinks) saved German blushes against the USA a few years back.

Is it inconceivable that FIFA put a little pressure on the match officials to be more leniant with decisions against the likes of France and Portugal, to ensure Ronaldo and Henry & co were at the world cup, thus providing more "star power" and a bigger draw from neutral supporters?
