Anyone see the classified ad for a 'Golf Clearance sale' this Friday, on the back of yesterdays IT? I looked today but no ad displayed. I think it was in the Montrose Hotel 10:00am-7:00pm from recollection

    Anyone confirm?

Been to one of those in a Kilkenny hotel a few years ago and it was an absolute waste of time. Presumably crap on tour from town to town... hotel to hotel.
Unless it was a specific liquidation sale I'd avoid.

Wasn't there a retailer shut its doors on the southside fairly recently?

Green18 in Sandyford closed but I think they had their clearance/liquidation in the actual premises.

Yep, I was at one in Kilkenny as well at the Hotel on the Waterford road. Waste of space.

I'd imagine if it was a specific liquidation sale they would have mentioned it in the ad?
But chances are it's more of this - http://wwww.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055608861

I was at one in a Tipperary hotel a couple of months ago and it was a joke.It was all brands that i had never heard of(apart from Spalding, nuff said) and if that wasn't bad enough it wasn't even cheap!

Called in to Montrose a short while ago.

Not too much stock in total - well at least not too much on display.

Selection of mens t-shirts - many in v bright colours! Approx 25 euro for standard polo (didn't recognise the brand) and 50-60 euros for Ralph Lauren polo shirts.

V little raingear & only saw ProQuip.

Selection of Ladies Millie Fox gear - not much cheaper than it sells in my club's pro shop. Nice gear but Millie Fox gear tends to be in whites, creams, pale colours. Not much use in this climate!

Didn't see any golf clubs. There were a few golf travel bags.

Some of the stock has K club logo's & Ryder Cup @ K club logo's.

Unless you're in the vicinity of montrose, I wouldn't make a special trip.

I think they will have stock left.
Didn't see any signed / autgraphed items for sale.
All items of clothing with a few travel bags & holdalls.
The K Club / Ryder cup items were t-shirts / wind tops / jumpers & mostly in mens sizes.

Yeah went in and it seems a good sale alright. Am looking for a Galvin Green Anton jacket, mcguirks are doing them for €225 than - 25% off = 168.75, but on golf store europe you can get them for €161, free p&p and get it next day. I'm not promoting the company! But even at a sale of 25% Mcguirks still cant compete, a bit annoying really.

for the sake of 7 euros jim i'd say you should prob pick the mcguirks option
are they an irish company by the way?

I'd definitely shop here for the sake of €7.

Their based in Derry according to their website.

I know €7 isn't much I just would have thought with a 25% off super sale McGuirks should be able to at least match other companies. Would not be bothered in the slightest about shopping with an american or UK company instead of McGuirks, they made enough money down through the boom years and a lot of people are hard up so you gotta look for a bargin!

I'd be surprised if they wouldn't let you away with the €7 if you pulled out your wallet and waved the notes under their noses.

If they do/did, then whoever does that needs a serious reality check and shouldn't expect to be employed or in business much longer...
