Iv a funny feeling about tonights match i think we will go through on penos..I know the french have a far superior team to us but i think they may take us for granted.. I can see us scoring early and sitting back as we always do and play for penalties..Will be a mammoth task to hold the french scoreless for 120 mins but i can see us doin it..50/1 for us to go through on penos is way to big and worth at least a tenner..

This is about the 15th time people have said this tonight.
I can assure you we won't win it on penalties.

If I'm wrong then I'll eat my hat, hoping to be eating my hat come 11pm :D

In sport you cant assure anything.. If we are to go through you would have to admit penalties are the most likely way for us to get through..Hard tosee us beating the french 2-0..

you'll be eating your big green leprachon hat singing ole ole ole when we win...

why do irish people always sing ole ole ole? be it in a boxing match, football, or whatever, always with the ole chant. I think its all the irish have, and its borrowed from spain

I don't want to sound like an expert wannabe but this is what we have to do tonight if we want to get goals and possibly a result.

Like we did in Croke Park, pressure everthing for the opening 25 mins - 45 minutes. This will force the French into mistakes and carless passes like it did in the opening stages in Croker.
The fans won't be long getting on the back of the players and especially the manager, and if we play our cards right, the booing may begin :D

    Then we stand every chance.
However, we need to score. No excuse.

I'm very very optimistic that we'll score within the first 20 mins or come extremely close to it.

I think we have to score in the first 20 minutes. Thats when we play our best football. If we do, then we can hit them on the break and sneak the winner in 90 or 120 mins.

If it goes to penalties, we lose. End of. Our players don't score pens, they give them away.

Do I think we can do it? - I think its a 14/1 shot of us winning the game never mind qualifying

As long as we don't go down with a shimper, I'll be happy.

    But a I just have a feeling, and I don't get them often :D

I think we have to stay cool at the start, and not commit too early, and get caught on the hop.
0-0 at halftime might be OK. I'd be nervous if we scored really early. Defending for 84 minutes like vs England in '88 isn't good for the heart. Especially since mine is 21 years older now (OMG!!)
    C'MON IRELAND !

If it goes to peno's I've a bet here Kilbane scores !!

Keep it tight for the first 70 minutes...Throw everything at them the last 20 minutes!
