Relationship Counseling

This is more of a Friday thread (and is some what tongue in cheek) but what the hell.

We have been together since the start of the summer last year but I am finding it hard to keep the relationship going, you see she is a Trek and though I have never been a particular fan of Trek my opinion is shifting to the negative. This is superficial and is probably based in some kind of sub conscious juvenile anti corporate/ lance feeling.
I do love the bike, she rides smooth and is quite simply a very nice bike to cycle, she has taken me up hills I never thought possible... its just I look at her and think...

gawd look at you, you trek....

Please wont some one help me appreciate her again:o

Clearly paying for a "boob-job" won't work in this case. how about asking Damien Hirst if he will paint some butterflies on her? She'll feel more loved, and you'll feel better (off) for it - a win-win

    Nitromors.

Sounds like you need some "retail" therapy. Something along the lines of new wheels/tyres, Handlebar tape etc. Tyres and Handlebar tape come in different colours, maybe you could experiment and change how you bike looks?

If that doesn't work, take a seat, relax and tell us about your childhood? :D

Dump her and get a sexy Planet X :)

The grass looks always greener on the other side. Maybe you need to have a good chat with the trek and be honest to it. Trek might feel the same, maybe it would like you to lose weight or to stop forcing too much on the big gears. Without communication a relationship cannot work.
Go on a weekend break together and try and figure out what you two need to do to relight that fire. New Wheels? Maybe, it's not happy with the size of its stem?

I am sure you can work it out and come out of this stronger and happier than ever.

    Best of luck

You need to get out - NOW. Before it's too late, what with the Trek corporations' bullying of poor auld Greg LeMond you are complicit in this harassment by Default. This is causing the friction in your relationship. Dump her & clear your conscience.

Are you sure it's not that familiarity thing where you now just take her for granted? I agree dialogue is good.

It's the little ones I feel sorry for.

I had the same problem. I couldn't bring myself to part with my old Trek, good old reliable marraige material. I did respray the Trek and it improved things for sure, getting rid of all the Lance/US Postal propoganda. In the end though I did bring in a couple of frisky Cervelo mistresses to spice things up a bit, but I am sure that I will tire of them too.

    I'm with Tiny here.
Once you are in a bad or abusive relationship it will never improve.
No amount of nitromors will cover up the deep hurt you will continue to feel.
    Be brave
Move on and start again with one who won't keep on letting you down ;)

I was with a Trek once. She was a Pilot. Build for comfort and not for speed. Dumped her for a girl named Dolan ...........Don't get me wrong Dolan is very nice , looks well , gets lots of looks from the other guys but sometimes I think of my old trek and fell regret for breaking it off.
I only have the one photo of her and take it out from time to time

I would say Keep her , get her new wheels and a Hairdoo ( Bartape )

Thanks guys... I feel the love, sorry to all the Trekies out there, signal, I know you love the Discovery... I feel as though i have let you down.

On ward and up ward, fortunately bike monogamie is not a key ethic of being a cyclist so I'm still thinking of something like this for crusing around the Irish Alps.....
