Buy a second hand car

I've found a very nice 307 diesel at the Naas Road Motor Company just beside the Red Cow Hotel.
The Ad on the internet was saying it has 140 000 Kms, and after they decreased the price twice, I decided to leave them a deposit with the condition they would fix the few things broken in it.
It took much longer than what they said, and still now after 2 weeks it's not fixed, and in the meantime I've found out they don't have most papers of the car (service history...) and that the car has actually 140 000 miles on the clock.
I've asked several times if it was Kms or Miles, they kept saying it was Kms but few days ago they've just changed it from Kms to miles on their ad on the Internet.
My biggest problem is that being so enthusiastic of buying the car, I didn't get any receipt for the deposit.
I now don't want to buy this car, because they lied on the mileage.
I put the 2 screen-shots of the ad, in Km and then in miles in attached files.
Would it be possible to get my deposit back/complain about it?

So you actually went to view the car and still didn't know if it was miles or kilometres??

It also hasn't got 6 doors as advertised :D

Demand your deposit back and get something decent from a REPUTABLE garage,

just ask for your deposit back as they are in breach of your original agreement....or ask for a big price reduction.

How did you pay the deposit? How much did you pay? Are you saying you paid a deposit and got nothing, no order form, no receipt, nothing?

Normally you would be entitled to a full refund, since it isn't as described, and the time taken to repair the problems isn't reasonable imo. Your problem may be the lack of receipt. Did you pay in cash or by bank draft/credit/laser card? If it's by cash then you could be screwed. Have you actually been in to ask for a refund?

    I paid 200€ in cash.
Yeah I know i've been very stupid.
I'm going to call them this afternoon and then go to the garage to ask for the deposit back, see what they'll say.

Well they kept saying that it was in Kilometers even though it was suspicious considering that the speedometer was in miles and it was a car from 2002.
I called Peugeot and they told me it's possible to change the odometer from miles to kilometers. So I trusted them.
But lately I've asked them to change it back to miles and that's when they've changed the ad.
