Stunning. Know that part of Clare very well. But have never cycled it.
    Must rectify.

Done it by car last year when in Clare for the week. Absolutely stunning scenery.

Me too! I invested in a car a few weeks ago so I'll be able to pack up my bike and head to all kinds of places for spins now. Great!

    Does that include Corkscrew Hill.
Not that scenic but I've not come across a road like it in Ireland

I did the coastal bit of that route myself recently. The prevailing wind is very much from the south, going between Miltown Malbay and Doolin would indeed make more sense than the opposite direction I did. Very attractive all right, worth extending further up the coast I reckon though. Note the Tour de Burren encompasses this route.

Yup, from Doolin to Ballyvaughan via the coast road is very nice.

I'm very surprised it was only the Miltown Malbay - Doolin portion mentioned also. In my opinion the route from Doolin onwards to Ballyvaughan is far more spectacular and if I only had a few hours riding time thats the bit I'd be doing

I don't know the route from Malbay to Doolin but from Doolin to Ballyvaughan is beautiful.

What an excellent ride, did it last August and stayed over for one too many jars in McDermotts but was brought back to life by Cullinan's guesthouse which apparently is the local cycling haven and continued up later that day to Kinvara with what seemed at times to be an ever increasing peloton of pis*heads and ended up in one of the best destinations to arrive by bike in the world.

Great part of the country and well deserved placing

Cool, does anyone have a bit more detailed directions to this route? Or is just as simple as going from town to town (because there is only one road).

Your first pic of all the signposts is about 2 minutes from my house in Kinvara.

Haha, yes, I thought they were a bit OTT for an area of "natural" beauty. There were more signposts, I couldn't fit them all in :)
