    Hey all

I'm trying to lose a lot of weight, and I think I'm all right with regards to my fitness programme. I've been told that I should eat something small every 3 hours or so, to help keep portion sizes down etc. I've been told nuts are a great solution.

Not for me though. I'm intolerant to nuts (those damn nuts :D). I also hate dried fruit like raisins and stuff. What other solutions are there apart from real fruit like apples and pears etc? I really like dark chocolate, but is it still bad to have too much of it?

I'd mostly be snacking during work, so I need something small and kinda low maintenance (eg oranges aren't great because of the mess etc)

    Hi There,

Have you heard of oat cakes? they come in neat little packs of five and are really great with hummus - low GL (take longer to convert into sugar) and hummus is a great source of protein so fills you up. I also find smoothies great - try soya milk (everyone hates it until they try it! tesco sweetened one is very nice) with any fruit (berries/banana/mango - doesn't matter) yogurt etc - very filling and you can have it in shaker cup so handy at the desk. I love dark chocolate too but think it's better as a treat than a snack

The yogurts might be a way to go. I presume Weightwatchers ones are the healthiest.

Don't really fancy the smoothie idea to be honest. A bit too much preparation (making sure I have the ingredients, cleaning the blender etc). I commute so don't get a lot of time in the evenings or mornings, particularly with the gym some evenings too.

    Cheers for the advice though

WW are not the healthist, best option is to look at all the options out there (dairy yogurts I am not that clued in with as can't eat dairy) but ww can be very sugary and more expensive!!!!

    Will you bake?

Not going to lie to you. No. I'd maybe prepare my own lunch, but not for something to snack on. Again, between work, commuting and the gym, I just don't get a lot of time.

Nuts would have been ideal, although it was when I started snacking on nuts that I found out about the nut intolerance, so thats out the window unfortunately. Just looking for something quick, no fuss, healthy and tasty

I'd check the label and see how much sugar or sweetner are in WW yogurts. Natural yogurt with some fruit cut up could be a much better alternative

have you heard of quinoa? it's very easy to cook and you could make a load of it at the beginning of the week and bring it in for lunch
It contains all the 8 amino acids that make up complete protein as well as providing more calcium than milk! great alternative to rice. Personally I like it with stirfried vegtables :)
