Overnight & golf in Leinster?

Hi there - has anyone any good ideas about where would host a golf society outing (~30 members) + overnight accommodation within a 1.5 hour drive of Dublin?

The format we were thinking of was a hotel/golf course with a good restaurant/bar for the evening celebrations + individual chalets for accommodation, as opposed to hotel rooms, if possible.

    Hi Bob,

Not sure about the chalets, and certainly not for one night - they're usually for a few days' rent.

    Hotels/courses:
Knightsbrook in Trim - apparently in good shape considering the time of year

Moyvalley near Enfield - Darren Clarke's course, or consider Rathcore GC nearby (excellent green fees and a fun round)

Castleknock - and you can choose between Castleknock or Luttrellstown (if you're playing before the end of the year)

Druid's Glen or Heath in Wicklow - the hotel's at the Heath

Macreddin in Aughrim - the hotel is Brook Lodge alongside

Bunclody and the Mill Race Hotel opposite the entrance. One of the lads on here, ShriekingSheet, had a bash there recently: 135 Euro for bed, breakfast, dinner and golf. If there are 30 of you you can probably get that down

Portmarnock Links - and because it's links you'll know it's in good condition. Great deals too.

I'm sure I've missed some - like Rathsallagh and Tulfarris, but my winter experience of those two is that they're very wet underfoot.

Hi Bob. If I was organising your outing, I'd take a serious look at The Heritage. Everything about the place is top class. I love the place! Played there many times with a friend who's a member. I've actually thought about having a golfing weekend there with a few friends. :)

Mount Wolseley in Tullow, Co. Carlow would be suitable I'd imagine. Big hotel with all that goes along with that. Enjoyable golf course which would be well kept. As far as I know you can stay in self-catering houses on the grounds too... god knows they have enough of them (houses) anyway.
