North East coast commuters switching from train to bus

Just wondering if many people that commute on the north east coast to Dublin are sticking with the bus? I don't do that commute, but a few guys from work do (from as far up as dundalk) and the said the bus was quicker (not by much, but at worse they get in the same time as the train), you get a seat and as much as €800 cheaper for a yearly ticket. Is the train service really that bad? Why would anyone use it?

The only reason I'm back to the train is because the direct bus service from Balbriggan no longer runs. The bus was great and I was in work over half an hour quicker than the train (with a guaranteed seat). The only downside was that the bus only operated during peak hours so I had to drive into town at weekends.

What ticket is this now? Dundalk on the Matthews bus is 1900 for the year?
