UPC have been making noises about court action but as it stands it is believed that SKY will not make any of its HD services available to UPC

I know this is an old thread but I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was any change with Sky Sports HD being made available on UPC.

I recently heard that Virgin Media in the UK will be launching Sky Sports HD in time for the new football season in August.......

I was told the same (in time for the new football season) when I got UPC installed about a month ago. Ill believe it when I see it...

They need to get the finger out because they are a long way behind Sky in the the aul HD game.

Yeah, there are always rumours regarding new UPC product launches but nothing is ever confirmed until it goes live whereas SKY advertise anything new for a while before it's launch just to grab customers attention.

UPC is terrible at giving information on new products it's like the Secret Service.

I wonder what happened with UPC not launching Watch, Good Food & Yesterday too as confirmed by their sales some months ago?!

Sky has long refused to make its HD channels available to other providers. As for the others mentioned, they were only ever rumours posted in this forum and were never, officially confirmed by UPC.

They told me on the phone they were in negotiations. It may never have been the official line but it was said by UPC.

I was told by both the UPC rep and the technician that called to my house that they would have a proper lineup of HD channels sorted by the end of the summer. This was not rumour, that was straight from the horses mouth so to speak.

I would be surprised to see it this side of the world cup. Sky are playing hardball as they are in the position of being a HD broadcaster and a HD service provider. This allows them to abuse their position with respect to companies such as UPC and Virgin. If Sky Sports HD is a must have you probably shouldn't have gone with UPC in the first place as now you'll be faced with the downgrade fee.

Personally I would like to see things such as Channel 4, ITV and E4 on HD. The more the better. I really have no interest in Bio, Crime etc. Even the programs on BBC HD haven't been exactly what you would call "must see TV".

well for what I get with UPC I'd be forced to pay an extra €46.99 a month if I wanted to go with Sky. I'll stick with the SD version for the time being. Much as I'd love Sky Sports in HD and the red button for the Champions League and Heineken Cup it's not worth an extra €46.99

SKY don't have the World Cup, it's a free to air event, as far as I'm aware it will be on BBC HD -on UPC & ITV1 HD - not on UPC but could be added as it's not a SKY channel.

There are many other none SKY HD, HD channels which could be added to the UPC line up like Living HD, Channel 4 HD, E4 HD, FX HD, LUXE.tv HD, MGM HD, MTVN HD, Rush HD, Bravo HD from June Hallmark HD & from July Film4 HD

Also I've heard that Virgin Media won a battle against SKY in the UK & will have SKY Sports HD available in time for the new football seaon. Will this allow UPC acces to these channels as well??

Would love to see ITV added for the games BBC don't cover.

It won't affect it directly as Ofcom don't affect what happens here but it might put pressure on Sky with respect to either the EU or Comreg.
