Hi, I am just wondering is there any jobs in Ireland that involve light aircraft mechanics/technicians/electricians.
Im training at the moment , mainly in a320s, I work in electrics and avionics and will be finished sometime next year with maybe a year and half of hands on experience behind me.
Id love to know if theres any work in light aircraft maintenance, if it even exists. Id imagine people here with PPLs might know more than people in the heavy industry.
Im also well aware there'd probably be a drop in pay compare to heavy maintenance.
    Cheers

There's definitely a crowd in Waterford that does aircraft maintenance, Shamrock Aviation. I was under the impression that it was called something else but maybe it's changed hands. Anyway, afaik there is a company down there that services all the PTC aircraft, whether that's Shamrock Aviation or a second operation, I don't know.

In Ireland it's pretty limited, but there's a company at Knock, Waterford, Cork I think (or will be soon), Galway for now, Weston, Abbeyshrule. The NFC have their own maintenance outfit. I suggest phone calls and visits to suss them out. I doubt if too many have vacancies as such particularly in the current climate. But it's worth getting to know the scene.

It's basically caters for the NFC's aircraft. It's on the other (old) side of the airfield, looks like a farm building, which it was. Just past Westonpark house. There were a couple of apprentices working there last time I collected a aeroplane from it.

zig : Put a post up on www.flyinginireland.com in the maintenance section.

Off the top of my head Id send an email to all the schools. Is it just fixed wing you work on? If not send it off to all the rotary operators as well.

Is it just maintenance you're interested in or would aircraft assembly also be of interest? Beside's the maintenance operation at Abbeyshrule there's also a company who import and assemble light aircraft/ultralights...
