No ,not in the least, why should it ? .If you have qualifications for the job or jobs in mind and a company is recruiting or intrested in your cv they will contact you via , letter ,email or phone .Bare in mind there is also high levels of unemployment in UK at the moement

When I first went over in the ninties, I got my first job through the GAA, signed up for a club over there, went to first training session and was working the next day!! Kept me going for 3 months until I got a perm position.

Same with most of my friends back then, not sure what its like now but worth a punt if you play.

In relation to address I definately think a local address will help. It will definatly wont be seen as a negative, where as an address in another country maybe.

I've been looking for work in the UK myself (and just been successful. :D:D:D) and I've been told by a few recruitment people that the Irish address can be a problem. They assume you won't be able to come over for interviews at short notice or might have problems relocating in time to start work. Someone suggested putting a friend's UK address instead, but I think that would look a bit odd with an Irish phone number.

You can get around that though. What I found worked well was to phone recruitment agencies before sending over your CV. Reassure them that you'll definitely be moving and that you'll be able to come over for interviews. mention it if you've got anything that will make the move easier, like a place to stay, NI number from working there before etc. If you find a couple of really good ones that seem like they'll make an effort for you and have sent you a few job specs, pick a date, say you'll be over then, and get those agencies to line up as many interviews as they can while you're there. It's a gamble, but I got more interviews from spending 2 days in London at a week's notice than I've had in months here, and face to face meetings turned out to be worth a lot more than phone calls and emails.

One last thing: bear in mind that just about nobody in recruitment in the UK seems to have the slightest idea how bad things are in Ireland, so probably best to talk about better opportunities in the UK or some other reason for moving instead of admitting that you just can't find anything here (if that is the case, of course.) They think it's tough over there, but UK unemployment is only just over half the Irish rate.

    Best of luck!
