Hadn't heard of this strike, but that will effect me as well. They not been on a skive on any day that I've been in previously, but I have been stood in the queue on a day after a strike before. On those occasions they seemed to just skip needing people to sign on that time, but no telling what they will do next week and may be different from one office to another.

Maybe they'll have skeleton staff on or something.

Your signing on will more than likely be excused for that day. Contact your local office to make sure and to double check their arrangements and when you do have to sign again. They will probably have signs up from monday anyway advising people.

most likely a backlog of other work they want to clear so excused your signing on date

Its only the public sector workers in flooded areas (i.e. Cork/Galway) that are not on strike but are helping out in clearing the mess caused by the flooding. All other offices around the country will still be on strike!
