Hey, just browsing toys.ie on the interweb and noticed Smyths are planning to sell the L.E for €49.99 and the normal for either €39.99 and €42.99

I've checked the LE and it appears that the price is for the weekend following the games launch, and you probably have to pre-book to guarantee and there's no loyalty card on the game.

    Link to the Ps3 version

Has to be a mistake, game on its own is more than that on play.com

Don't confuse it with the black edition!

Christ... its not bad enough to have a Collectors edition with every big game now that they have to go and make TWO collectors editions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 870 ✭✭✭WildCardDoW

It's not a mistake from what I can tell, and Smyths don't charge to pre book so it can't hurt! Its a limited time offer, which is smart since most games sell most in the first week.

am i the only one getting sick of this "collectors edition" bullsh.it?
its bad enough to have a normal and special edition, but now its like:
normal edition, slightly more stuff edition, collectors edition, true collectors edition, ultimate edition, professional ulitmate extreme edition ...

fair enough if you get a bargain and find them at the same price, but otherwise fuc.k this "special"/"limited"/"collectors" edition crap.

If you don't want them don't buy them. Some people like special editions.

As far as I know all the Black editions are sold out everywhere, even play.com has stopped taking orders for it. I have seen copies going for €220+ on ebay. Its madness.

You'll get it alright, about a week and a half after release day, also watch for customs, they have the finger out and play ship from Jersey which is outside the EU.

Ebay have the normal one today for 38euro delivered (in the Deals of the Day on the co.uk site)

I agree. They making people pay way over the odds for bulls**t
Its ridiculous that not only is there a special edition theres a super dooper special edition that you have to pay lots of money for but get jacksh*t.
OMG a tin case, a golden gun, a slipcase. Seriously it aint worth it. I got Halo 3 collectors and it broke the disc the box sucked so much and it cost €20 extra.
AAnd what youve just said is the worst thing. They make peope pay all that money because they make you want the best of the best. They bring out 5 editions and make the bottom one look like a piece of crap. Who the hell wants an extra piece of crap. Its gotta be something special if im to get a more expensive edition.

No-one is making you buy the special editions, I have no interest in collecting figurines.

If you put it that way but they feast on vulnerable consumers by putting these incentives on the market.

If you had a business - wouldn't you release every edition you could think of??

Lol you cant really blame the publishers, they release a regular edition of the game too. People are smart enough to decide what they want to spend their money on, the regular edition or spend more money on the special edition. Nobody is forcing us to buy it. If you really are a "vulnerable consumer", thats your own fault ;)

Think of this, in some games only certain items are available in the special edition. And what do i think of that? Its robbing. Do you know how much time and effort goes into making a game? I certainly cant tell but i can assume its a lot. To add an extra charactar, gun, or suit in a game takes minimal effort but costs €10-€20 extra. Stuff that may be something worth the money are tin casing and a bonus disc but it still wouldnt persuade me. Another thing i dont have a problem with is prebooking extras as yes if i had a business id want sales quick and lots of em.

I must confess, I'm a real sucker for special editions. I have the Black Edition pre-ordered in Gamestop...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 289 ✭✭cmpunk

Just picked it up in gamestop for 65 euro for the black one good deal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

If people want them, they'll buy them. Nobody is forcing consumers to buy special editions, they're just putting them out there and there's obviously a market for them.

Personally the only way I'd ever buy one of these is if it was actually cheaper than the normal version. No interest in them whatsoever.

anyone know how much tesco are selling it for?

That is a good deal. My local gamestop told me it was going to be 89.99 only yesterday. I hate how inconsistent they are between stores.

Question though.. you say you picked it up. Do you mean you pre-ordered it for tomorrow (or midnight tonight) or do you actually have it to hand. I assume its against Ubisofts policy for stores to give this to people early.

    Heh, same here.
I then returned both discs to MS, but only got the game disc back. So I essentially paid extra to get screwed in the ass!

Which Gamestop sold it to you tonight,I went into Henry Street in Dublin and they said it was on sale tomorrow.

Anyone know if smyths in town have any white versions left? Or any of the gamestops in town have any black versions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,014 ✭✭✭Soarer

Harvey Norman Little Island are doing the regular version for €39.99, so I'd imagine all HN's are doing the same.

Don't think you'll beat that in a b&m shop today.

Smyths reg should only be 39.99, if you paid more bring it back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,024 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

Smyths on Jervis Street are charging €40 for the PS3 version and €43 for the 360 version, guy at the till didn't know why.
