Teaching English in the Middle East

    Hello,
I graduated from college in '08 and I am now looking at doing some teaching/traveling. I have many ideas of where and when I want to go but I am having troubles discovering advice on the topic of when to teach in the Middle East.

Obviously, most jobs are starting Aug/Sept time over there but is there any chance of locating a position before that, say this Jan/Feb coming? I could always teach in somewhere like Prague fr 6 months and then go but in a perfect world I'd like to go there straight away and save the money that is on offer there.

My friend went there after we graduated without any TEFL etc and they paid airfare aswell. This sounds perfect but how do I go about getting this in the new year?

Also, does anyone have any opinions on location? Abu Dabi, Dubai, Saudi Arabia etc???

    Thanks for the advice.:)

You have missed the deadline for next January, but they will be hiring again during the Summer for the September semester.

Thanks Tom. Yeah, I know I missed the summer deadline but I was hoping that there is a position available in some International language schools or jobs available from people not returning from Christmas holidays in their home country. From my research, in place like Prague, Spain etc there are a few teaching positions available due to the latter.

I am just putting this question out there as a sort of litmus test for the job market out there. Ultimately, I might have to go to Europe and teach there for 6/8 months and then head to the Middle East for the summer.

Finally, is it always 12 months contracts offered there?
