Two lines of new yellow cabling going between houses (South Dublin)

'KN Networks' are working in my area and UPC have dropped a letter stating that the network is being upgraded with some stations shifting from VLF (well low VHF) to UHF.

As of yet, the UHF stations are fuzzy so the switch is not complete.

First off they ran grey (as opposed to the old black) cabling between the houses and along the gutters.
There is new tap boxs in front of the old ones (the front inputs on said taps are as yet vacant looking up from the ground)

Now I see in a addition there are an upper and lower bright yellow cable going between each house (possibly unsightly??)

Is this Fiber or just 3 sets of Coax?
What are the odds of Broadband finally coming to my area in the coming weeks?

    Cheers!

The odds are you will be gettingbroadband alright, as the upstream path from cable modems is in the sprectrum location that is being switched to UHF.

I'm in the same boat in Ranelagh - as soon as that happens I'll be ordering some broadband please & thank you!

Never saw the yellow wire- you could be right about it being fibre though...

Any chance the yellow is from a shroud over ESB lines? These are used when working near ESB cables. They are removed at a later stage.

I was thinking the same, never seen UPC using yellow on anything. The shrouding is black with a narrow yellow strip running the whole length of it. They should be easy to spot though, as the circumference area is a lot bigger

You should only be left with grey cable its the new type of distribution cable . Thats prob just a temporary cover as stated prev in the thread.

The grey cable is not fiber optic.

This is a upc upgrade for services like broadband. KN are the contractors and I am told they will be on my street next week.
