I work as a part trime "security guard" for a bestard who probably gets 4 times as much as he gives me. Plus No Smoking, Clean shaven, Sunday best and all that ****. Always sneaking up on me, even during the night. I can't close my eyes for 5 mins but the bestard says I've been asleep all night! AND is going to dock me accordingly.

I could go on, but I'm sure there are other Security guards outy there with access to boards.ie. Its one of the few sites that keep me going through my 12, sometimes 15 hour shifts.

If I hadn't access to the internet I'd go ****ing crazy:eek:.

I'd like to hear from other low paid (what else) S/Os on how to get through the night...

Browsing the internet & getting paid for it, nice work if you can get it.

Doesn't sound like your boss is much of a "bastard" tbh.

You think you should be allowed have a nice sleep while at work? and then think you will gets sympathy coming on here complaining about the boss who has often caught you asleep & still has you employed. Pretty good boss I reckon.

Creeping Death and Degsy are security guards out in the JFK industrial estate.

They won't admit but the big 4" thick soles on their shoes prove it.

Pm them, say The Flutt told ya;)

It is something to have got used to doing while working - browsing on the internet. If internet access was removed, you will have to find something else to do - like working :D

Boredom aside sounds pretty cushy overall OP.

Worked shift in a place before where one of the security guards used to have a kip regularly enough in the reception area.

Used to feel so safe there.

I'm not lookin for sympathy. Far from it. OK I v'e got an easy job, (otherwise it wouldn't be so minium wage borderline:mad:). My access to dinternet is fleeting. I don't "sleep" on the job, it's hard to keep your eyes open 12-15 hours solid staring at 4 Monitors. Try it for 2 with 1 monitor.

My boss IS a bestard, (Please can I use an A in best?). He's got 20 guys spread around this area and he drops little "bombs" each time he visits so that everyone is suspicious of everyone else.

PS. What does OP mean for the benefit of anyone over 25??

[Sarcasm]What an asshole, not only does he want you to portray a professional image for his company by being clean shaven and properly dressed but he actually wants you to work instead of sleep??

Op if i were you i'd be gone, quit, it's your only choice.[/Sarcasm]

Christ op get a life, you have a job, while it might not be the best paid job, you could at least approach it with some bit of professionalism.

OP means Original Poster. I have sympathy for you, I was 10 years in the security industry and hated when I got stuck with a long overnight shift in a tiny room with nothing to keep me alive never mind awake.
Dont take any of the comments here personal, most of these posters go on the offensive through the keyboard because they have no life... I couldnt do your job now, it would kill me..

I worked in Africa thirty years ago. Almost every house had a security guard that arrived at 18:00 and left at 06:00.

    1) My first guard slept under the stairwell in the apartment block. The supervisor occasionally arrived on a Honda 50, kicked him awake, and gave him a bollicking.
    2) A mate's security guard hid in the bushes until the robbers had gone.
    3) At a house I had the guard had it cushy. He sat in a shed smoking dagga. You could see the glow all night. He was mostly incapable of speech.
    3) The worst job was one at a friend's house who had a security company clock that he has to punch every fifteen minutes of a continuous 48 hour shift. No punch, no pay.

Your job doesn't sound too bad tbh.

I have images of the OP defending himself self on the internet in a little portacabin while the place he guards gets robbed blind.

    :D
