Well how long has it been FTA ?
I scan foxsat weekly and it has just appeared this weekend.
Is it one of those channels that launch FTA and then encrypt ?

It was first reported a week or so ago on Boards.

Its not a great time to be lauching FTA, due to the shortage of advertising revenue. The content looks like it might have cost a bit more money than what you'd find on some of the FTA channels.

If I had to place bet I'd say it may just be FTA to build an audience like Cinemoi was for a while.

Do new channels go FTA to develop viewing figures that can then be used as part of their negotiations for royalities if they sign to Sky ?

Food Network is a tie up between Scripps & Chello Media.
Chello Media I think are involved with Zone channels which are rebranding soon and staying FTA.
