Nothing new on yesterday's major UFC news. Brock Lesnar is out indefinitely with mono and another illness that he doesn't want out. Two things to note to ease some fears: One, whatever he has is not said to be life-threatening, although there is a possibility it could be career-threatening, or at least derail him for a long, long time. And second, whatever he has besides mono may not be as bad as people are speculating, because although he doesn't want it out what he has, he also didn't want it out that he had mono. In fact, he'd have preferred Dana never said anything about him being sick at all, but Dana I guess felt it was important to be honest with the fans about what was going on. We'll have more tonight.

Thats not nice to hear. He's great to watch in UFC.

    Cheers for posting it here.
Mono's kissing disease. My mate had that and took him a few weeks to get over. Hardly life threatening is it?

Depending on the severity of the case, Glandular Fever can be very dehabilitating for the sufferer. In harsh cases the sufferer is best advised to limit their activity to virtually nothing, which of course would be a massive change of lifestyle for someone like Brock, and he's bound to lose a lot of muscle mass and strength the longer he stays ill. It'll be a damn shame if the career of such a dominant fighter ended like this, hope he gets back to fighting form eventually.

UFC President Dana White told tmz that Brock Lesnar is suffering from a major intestinal disorder and will require "major surgery"

Lesnar is also currently suffering from mononucleosis.

absolutely, to have glandular fever, and intestinal problems too, this could set back lesnars career big time

Where does it say Brock took steroids??

wasnt his name on the "list" of wrestlers that where getting meds from the "pharmacy"?

why you think he doesnt look as muscley as he did in WWE

im not attacking him here im just saying if he was on the roids could that have damaged his intestines???

and to be clear i do like the guy. think moving to UFC was a great move. he was really unlucky in his debut

here is a link dude he was arrested in january 2001 fro possesion of steroids

here he storms out of an interview when asked about steroids

    http://mma.fanhouse.com/2008/10/21/brock-lesnar-storms-out-of-espn-interview-when-subject-turns-to/

see im not attacking him im just asking a health question if it could be the reason?

Not sure if his name was on the list but if it was, he would've been suspended due to the Weelness Policy. I'm pretty sure Brock wasn't suspended

He prob doesn't look as muscley? because UFC is completly different to WWE. You're traveling non-stop with the WWE, looking for all different gym's to work out in and having matches night after night. In the UFC, you have a lot of time off to relax, you have around a month or 2 to get ready for a fight.

I know you're not attacking him.

UFC is the greatest thing that could've happend to him. He hasn't had an unlucky debut, he's the UFC Heavyweight champion

EDIT: Seen your post's with links, deleted some of the comments here

no probs mate. i thought he was on the list. i think i might have justr heard about the arrest when the list thing was been talked about. i thought he lost his debut fight. i know he is champ and he deserves it but what i meant was his debut fight he got unlucky. i think the whole MMA suits him better and yea i see your point about having alot more time off its gotta take its toll on the build.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,083 ✭✭✭waltersobchak

I think Lesnar toned himself down for mma anyways.. because hes definately smaller than when he was in wwe

Off topic: Come to think of it, he did lose his opening match, whoops:o

On topic: Get well soon, Brock!!

actually didnt read that link. i was watching the clip from the other link where he storms out. i read the first part of the link where he was arrested and just copied the link. oops

there was no proof he took steroids but at one time was caught with "growth hormones". he was rightfully released as a result. there has however been allegations it seems that throughout his career he has used steroids in order to "bulk" up. i know some people would have opinions on both sides of the fence but as far as this thread is concerned he was never convicted not that it means much. i know people will be thinking this has nothing to do with the topic but as i asked earlier does anyone here know if steroids or other alternatives could cause his symptoms?? it would also explain why he wouldnt want this illness to be made public

He's not as ripped as he was then but it's a fair bet that he was taking something to get that large and then his UFC phsyique was obviously done without. His belly looks really big though and he's looked bloated since his WWE days

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,175 ✭✭✭Paulegend

yea thats what i mean. it would be unfair of us to assume he was using roids but he was taking something. even if it was "vitamins" or "growth hormones". what ever it was couldnt have been very much alowed if he stopped using them. thats why i think that this could be the big reason he is in bad condition. we've seen this happen to eddie

What irks me about wrestling fans is many of them/us love to talk about things using only half facts and speculation as an argument or point, Sorry it just annoys me

fair point it is speculation. but the story is he has been suspected throughout his career. even the ultimate babyface Hulkhogan used roids. eddie died because he used them and they just killed his body(i do believe it was years after he stopped using them). they are part to blame for chris benoits trip down sicko lane. brock was always ripped in football and wrestling. he turns to ufc where they check the bloody regularly and he doesnt look so ripped. now he is mysteriously sick all of a sudden. passed out i recall someone mentioning. he has an intestine problem which can be caused by something that was injested that harmed his body. he also wants TNA to keep secret why he is like this. the facts are there. im just adding 2 + 2 and im getting 4 dude. we shouldnt speculate by saying it was roids but he obviously injested something. if he use to take growth hormones it would make alot of sense

Hes not so ripped now because the largest weightclass in UFC is 265 lbs whereas Lesnar was 300-320 in WWE.. i personally dont think Dana White would touch him if he was on steroids, and would most likely test him, as he already has a huge size advantage as it is. and a steroids scandal would harm UFC..

WCCO.com, which is a CBS affiliate, is reporting that UFC Champion Brock Lesnar is indeed suffering from an intestinal disorder as UFC President Dana White originally reported. A quote from the report reads, "A source told WCCO that Lesnar has a severe case of diverticulitis, a disease where small pouches form in the digestive system."

That disease is related to your diet and fibre intake. Dont think there has ever been any studies to link it with steroid abuse.

To blame steroids alone for Eddies death would be naive. He was a self confessed alcoholic and drug abuser for many years of his young life. His self abuse nearly cost him his life before.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has undergone minor surgery today in a Bismark, ND hospital, according to UFC president Dana White. White flew to North Dakota to be with Lesnar and stated that the former WWE champion is feeling better, but that he is not sure he is completely out of the water health wise.

Brock Lesnar underwent surgery today in Bismark, ND. The Associated Press is now reporting that the UFC Champion has been released from the hospital and is now back at his home in Minnesota. Below is an excerpt from the article. "A friend of UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar says the ultimate fighter is back at his home in Alexandria, Minnesota, recovering from a bacterial infection.
Larry Novotny says Lesnar was released from a hospital in Bismarck, N.D., on Tuesday and won't make any decisions about his career until his health has improved. Novotny is Lesnar's chiropractor."
