    Hey,

So I really want to look into working in the states for a year. Im graduating from a course in Engineering next summer and I hear in order to be eligible for the new year long visa I have to find work related to my course?

Where do people go to find these internships as they're being called? USIT hardly sort it out for you?

    Cheers

Go to http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites and choose the city you wana go to, then click Jobs or choose a specific job-type, then when the list of jobs come up tick 'internship' at the top and click Search. Then you'll get a list of internships available...

If I were you, I'd do what I did. Go for a summer J-1 and search around for a job, its so difficult to do it from over here. Then come back in October and apply for the year visa, that way you can work longer and you'll have a better chance of finding a job!

In my experience unless you're very lucky or you know someone you're unlikely to get a graduate position in a foreign country. But if you go for a position that is specifically there for foreign students/graduates then you'll have a better chance that's what this program is www.iaeste.ie.

I wrote a post on this in the Engineering forum:

Think you have to be outside the states for 90 days before you can go back though.

    Thanks for the help!

www.iaeste.ie. doesnt seem to have 2010 applications open yet, I would love to do it though so I'll keep a close eye on that one! Need some Engineering experience and the sunnier location the better.

From what I recall the deadline last year was the end of the year so I'm guessing they should be opening soon.
