Hi apologies if in the wrong section. On Tuesday I was the victim of a hit and run, my car is wrote off and the other driver sped off, with me receiving minor injuries. I asked the Gardai if there is any way I can claim compensation and they said it was possible through a bureau or agency, he did not elaborate. Does anybody know anything about it?

    Motor insurance bureau of Ireland.

The Motor Insurance Bureau of Ireland compensates victims of road traffic accidents caused by uninsured and unidentified vehicles.

However if you intend to make a claim, you will also need to contact InjuriesBoard.ie. The Board is a state body which provides independent assessment of personal injury compensation for victims of Workplace, Motor and Public Liability accidents.

You can ring the InjuriesBoard.ie Service Centre at 1890 829 121 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Saturday.

and will the injuriesboard provide legal advice to our OP here about the conditions precedent to making a claim to the MIBI on this helpline?

if yes I hope they have their professional indemnity insurance in place.
