WIRELESS PROBLEM

I recently purchased a macbook pro and have been unable to get the wireless internet to work properly the symbol in the top right corner is showing full signal and when you click it says that the computer is connected to the network. However when you try and access the internet, the browser (both safari and firefox) is saying that it is offline. I have already tried turning off offline mode on firefox but with no results.
Anyone know how to solve this problem or should i just go back to the shop?

Does it happen on all wireless networks or just the one?

Take note of all your settings (passwords, DNS entries, usernames), quit the system preferences app and try deleting the following file (making sure to also have a usable backup - although that should go without saying)

    /Library/Preferences/System Configuration/preferences.plist
aslo make sure there isn't a copy in
~/Library/Preferences/System Configuration (you shouldn't, but in case the system was setup funny)

Then go back into preferences and set it up again.

What happens if you follow the network setup assistant that appears when Safari can't connect?

Can you post the result of typing ifconfig at the command line
