I called 3 for a different reason and mentioned the iphone. I was told they would have it from January and it should be appearing on their website next month. Anyone else hear anything? They mentioned that they would have a variant with my 3 and Skype! I assume this means Skype via 3G rather than WiFi

3's version of Skype makes a phone call (free) and uses this for the voice part of the voice call.

    Great news.

    Three are talking rubbish .

When o2 finish their exclusivity agreement, only vodafone will be offering the iPhone, as they will then have exclusivity.. At that point , no other Irish network will offer the iPhone, including o2

    I don't believe that.

Not confirming what 3 said as have no idea but your comment is even more rubbish. At present indications are that Apple are ending their exclusivity agreements across Europe and hints of it in other places including the USA.

O2 will also be selling the iPhone here, just like O2 and Orange (and others) will be selling it in the UK. I'd be open for correction if you have some hard facts to back them up.

My brother in law work for 02, not in retail, I don't know hid title but he's fairly high up, he's the one that told me this.

He said the recent reductions in the price of iPhone ( now from free) were to try and saturate the Market as much as possible before they lose the right to sell the iPhone early next year.

he's talking rubbish, o2 are not losing the right to sell the iphone there only losing the exclusive, they will still have it. As for it being free it's far from it, it's free on an 18mt contract with a monthly commitment of €100pm, that free phone will cost you at least €1800 before your out if contract.

Compare that contract to something like metors bill pay surf over 18mts, you'll save €900, suddenly your free iphone is costing you €900 on an 18mt finance agreement.

Market saturation is not very likely.
