Don't know if this sort of thing has been done here before but here I go!

We have been an independent country for almost 100 years now and here we are in 2010 in a bit of a shambles to say the least which has been really highlighted during the current recession. It kind of leads you to the question wether we would have been better off remaining as part of the Monarchy of Great Britain. My answer would be a resounding yes because when you strip all the drunken rebel songs and stories of heroic Irishmen of the past and our coupla focail bare and actually compare how we run our country in comparison to Britain in matters that actually affect every day life, I my opinion we fall very short of there mark!

For example our health service is absolutely shocking compared to the NHS. Huge waiting lists in hospitals, annual cut backs on the medical card for those who really need them, and ridiculously high prices to even visit your local GP for a simple prescription. Our mental health servise or lack there of is even more disgusting whearas Britain are so far ahead of us in this area it's embarrassing.

The cost of general living is another obvious difference! Half the country now go up to her magesties land to do there weekely shopping in Newry or Belfast anyway because there's such a huge differece in prices! Food, drink, taxies fares, cars and houses are all so much cheaper there which would make every day living much more compfortable.

Even in sport, instead of every olympics cheering a few travellars having a punch up, or a drug using swimmer or horse at that matter getting stripped of medals, we would be part of a mighty GB and Ireland team where we could celebrate such heroes as Steve Redgrave and Chris Hoy as our own. They also pump much more money into all sports at every level so we would be far better of.

To finish I reckon we should all head for Westminester, get on our knees, say we're really sorry for all that 1916 nonesense and beg them to take us back, because we're pretty rubish on our own!
