Patricia Gillette made off from West Wickham in Kent at around 3pm on Friday afternoon and has not been seen since.

It is understood the 41-year-old had been allowed to visit the shops under supervision from Bethlem Royal Hospital in nearby Beckenham.

Detective Sergeant Gary Gornell, of Bromley CID said: "This individual is dangerous and we need to apprehend her as soon as possible.

"If anyone sees her, please don't approach her, but call police immediately."

Gillette, from Streatham, south London, was convicted of killing 38-year-old Mark Murphy in August 2006.

A judge at her Old Bailey trial, the following July ordered she be detained under a Hospital Order indefinitely.

Gillette is black, between 5'3" and 5'8" tall, and well-built.

She has moles under both eyes, a scar on the left side of her neck and another scar on her left ear.

She killed someone and is in a Bethlem Royal Hospital, its is ***king unenviable the way she is allowed to do shopping.
