Yes. PS3 games are region free.

You'll just need to sort out the different plug issue. No biggie.

    PS3 games will work. PS1 games and dvd's won't.

But that would be >99% of commercially available DVD's that are region locked

Blurays are not DVD's and a surprisingly large number of them are region free.

Nearly all of the new bluray releases are region locked, around the time of the PS3s release a lot of them were region free, i got BBCs Planet Earth from the States. In fairness US Amazon have great prices on Blu rays so its not really an issue. Will customs nab you for bringing a PS3 back?

Take it out of the box and bring it on as carry on luggage. It will be embarassing being the only nerd at security that takes an entire PS3 out of their bag to put through the security scanner but if asked by customs you can just say you brought it over with you because you have a games addiction problem. It's what I had to do when I got mine except mine was a phat PS3 and was heavy as all ****. Mine had to go through the MS sniffer machine as well but other than that, no trouble.

I think it's a disgrace this thread has gone this far without one joke about "Irish games"

...but alas I don't know if Gaelic Games from PS2 works on the PS3 (60GB)

I guess I must be lucky so.

This is a good site for checking if a disc is region free or not

Just make sure you have played it once before bringing it back with you, cos I know someone that bought a laptop in the US and were asked by customs to turn it on to prove it was there's and that they hadn't just bought it....Of course they had though..

The plug might be the issue then....

**** is it heavy. I did the exact same thing, I had a connecting flight at Heathrow too. My School bag easily weighed over 15kg that day :P
