I replaced the passenger side headlight bulb on a fiesta 2001 zetec, mark 5 i think, but cannot get the plastic cover back on. I can load it on so the two holes lines up with the pointy piece but it is loose at the top.

The drivers side has no cover will it get damp?Am i right there is no need to remove grill as at

You shouldn't need to remove the grill unless you're taking the headlamp out (AFAICR)
Is there a long metal clip that comes down over the cover to hold it in place? It may have fallen down to block the cover going on properly or fallen over the top and towards the front - you'll have to reach up and try to find it.

It's possible that water can get in to the drivers side one - is there any puddle at the bottom of the lens or moisture on the inside of the glass?

you are right according to car manual

No there is just a tang to press up when removing it. It has two holes and they fit into two kind of spikes that come out but whole i can do that the top won't pop in to place. I have left in boot till i figure and am going to look at Haynes manual in the library

    can' find anything up there

Is there a rubber seal going around the inside of the cover? That may have popped out and be obstructing you.

    no

Just check it's lined up correctly at the bottom, if it was correctly positioned and secure before you took it off, it should go back in. Also, check there's no wires coming out, obstructing it.

No wires, have tried to put it back at the bottom first and at top first won't stay tight. Will do it try tomorrow, busy today. Thanks for the help;)

Old thread I know but did you have to adjust your headlamp.
I changed my headlamp and have to now adjust the beam downwards...seems impossible without a special tool. See my post elswhere.
I have googled the life out of this problem and can't find any help.
Just tried ebay for the tool ..none.
I'm feeling quite sick at the thought of having to go to fords to have them adjust my headlamp beam............

It should only be a 5 or 6mm allen key that slots into the adjustors (I may be wrong, could be an 8 or 10mm socket)

If you do bring it to a garage, it shouldn't cost much to have your lights set and it doesn't have to be a ford garage - anyone with a beam setter will do.

Thank you for your reply. I have loads of Allen keys and none of them fit. Spent enough already and I don't want anymore costs on this.
    Thanks again.

On closer inspection I noticed a deeper star shaped recess on the plastic adjuster and found a tool to fit this 'perfectly'.
The tool was a driver from an electrical tool box from Aldi I think. See pics.

Tip, use plenty of WD40 gently cleaning and teasing the mechanism untill free moving.
