    Hi All,

It is a far out there target, but I would like to try and qualify for the World Duathlon championship in Edinburgh next September.

Ireland have 20 places per age group category. I am in the 30-35 age group.

Anyone have any insight into the competition for these places?
Am I only fooling myself? I am a 40 min 10km and 1.15 40 km on the bike.

If you have been there or have any insight and/or information, can you let me know?

    Cheers,

    NT.

I am open to correction, but I think Aidan Woods did the World duathlon champs. would have been in the male senior category though rather than age category. He can do 32mins for 10k run. Not sure if what you're talking about is same thing though. Good luck.

Brian Thursby Pelham was the first home for Ireland in a magnificent time of 1-39-42 for 7th place overall and a silver in the 35-40 age group.

Your not to far the pace.

There shouldn't be any problem getting your place as very few people apply to go to it, unlike the triathlon age group world champs, which can be oversubscribed in your age group if its held in Europe. Ireland hasn't had a national duathlon champs for a couple of years, which was held in Phoenix Park. Aidan won the national champs, so he was competing in the elites as opposed to age groups. You've probably got a few people interested in doing it now by posting here, and your age group is normally the first to be filled :-) If ya look at triathlon Ireland website, they normally have details about how ya apply, as the closing dates are normally 6 or so months in advance.
