I picked this up for 24.99 in HMV earlier today and watched it wth my brother. I have to admit, I have been less than impressed by the visual quality of alot of blurays that I have watched recently (up to the point where I was wondering what the fuss was about), but Star Trek is absolutely stunning.

Great movie, tons of extras and a digital copy for the iPhone. Defnately worth a look wheter you are a fan of the franchise or not.

I've gotten a few dodgy Blurays lately, so it's good to hear this one is a keeper. :)

    Ok so...
    Star Trek = win
    Blu ray = fail.

Preodered this so just waiting for delivery. Great review on the AVS forum. The reviewer gives it a reference quality for picture and sound. I saw it in the cinema and really enjoyed so looking forward to watching it again.

Tbh, I think high spec blu ray gear woud have much better output then your average cinema.

The thing is though, movies like this,Transformers and countless other big budget "block busters" are made for blu ray. They are flashy, noisy and CGI heavy so blu ray is a perfect format for em.

Do we really need crystal clear visuals so clean we can see Simon Peggs nasal hair?

In this cynical bastards opinion,no,but hey, different strokes for different folks and all that.

Crystal clear visuals of Megan Fox are so much better than Simon Pegg don't you think.;)

Yeah, personally I've no idea why anyone wouldn't want the absolute best quality commercially available (besides it's cost) but it's different for everyone.

I'm a HD whore and proud of it! I thought the film was OK but I HATED the cinematography* so I won't buy it...maybe after Xmas it'll go down to 10 euro or something, I might then.

*the majority of the shots weren't static, they kept moving and at "innovative" angles, and there's a pan-around shot for seemingly every character... It's like JJ Abrams only had one idea in his head and kept using it!
