Well it depends on what you actually plan on doing on it.

If it's just for general video, pictures + internet then i'd almost go for a netbook(some peeps won't like this cause of it's proc, but for most people it's fine). But if you don't like the small screens or keyboards or indeed if you want to use a dvd player or write cds then onyla full sized laptop will suffice...

This netbook is at a really awesome price (yes i said awesome)

Don't forget you can expect more than 5 hours of battery life with that samsung and any netbook with a 6 cell battery.

On the full laptop spectrum... Even though i did just recommend a netbook with an atom proc, i'm gonna say don't get a celeron processor(yes they're more powerful than atoms i know). I do this because for relatively little more moolah you can get a much more superior proc.

    this looks pretty cool

You should by all rights look for reviews of all the laptops you like the look of.
Don't forget you might like a webcam, hdmi out to hook up to your tv(only ati's work with sound) Dedicated gpu and i repeat check out the reviews of the ones you like the look of.

Might be worth your while seeing if you could get a blu-ray player too if you think you'd use one.
