Hi-I currently work full time in an office job and interested in starting a beauty course part time- one that is CIBTAC (or equivalent) acceditated. On my short list are- Bronwyn Conroy (most expensive though), Coogan Bergin and Lenaghs college in Swords. The one in Swords is most convenient location wise and looks good from the website but would love to get some advice from either people who are in the industry or have done a course in any of these or other colleges...Thanks!

    hi there..
are you wanting to do the course for yourself or do you want to work as a beautician/in that industry?

if your looking for a career, i would forget the part time courses. firstly why do you want to do cibtac? its the easiest of the 3 exams tbh. you're learning the stuff for cibtac, so might as well do another exam and double your qualifications. plus you'l get an extra diploma for itec anatomy, which you will have had to pass for cibtac anyway. if you already hav itec, why not do cidesco?? if you walked into an interview with just cibtac, they would laugh at you!

beauty therapy is a really intense course, i dont think a part time course is enough. its hard enough t find time to study, practice and get cse hours, never mind a full time job too! also if you decide to itec you'l need to do your case studies.

personally if i was you i would keep working, save as much as you can(its a VERY expensive course) and do it over 2 years next september. (beauty specialist and aesthitician in yr 1 and body treatments and electrolysis and cidesco in yr 2). that way your getting lots of qualifications and giving yourself lots of time to minimise the stress on you. trust me its still very stressful!!!

o and 1 last thing feck de private colleges, go to your nearest institute of further eduacation, or where ever plc's are done in your area an do it there. that way youl only hav t pay for exam fee's, kit, consumables, uniforms and additional courses.

best of luck with it xxxxx
