I got the iPhone 3G 8gb two days ago and I can't get the wifi to work. I am with Perlico and have a Zyxel modem. I have tried entering my WEP key many times, but when I go into Safari nothing loads... Can anyone help?

Can u see the the wifi symbol on the top toolbar of your phone ?
Does your Laptop/p.c connect np problem to your Wifi at home ?
Does the phone connect no problem to other wifi points (e.g)McDonalds ?

The wifi symbol was there a few minutes ago. I tried going on the internet but it didn't work. Now the symbol changed to 3G.
I am using wifi on my computer right now.
I haven't tried any other wifi points yet.

Whats your current firmware on your 3g ?
Is your phone jailbroken ? if so with what ?
Has your phone ever been able to use wifi ?

I have the latest update for the iphone, if that's what you mean by firmware.
    No it's not jailbroken.

Do you currently have MAC filtering setup on your Zyxel router?

I have been reading up on some wifi problems with the latest firmware 3.1.2 .
    You are not alone .

    Try this but ..

    goto : settings/general/reset network settings .

*warning , this will also delete your mms settings and 3g data settings which need to be re-typed in .

    Turn off your phone .
    Turn on your phone .

Go back into your wifi settings and re-enter your WEP key .

    Hopefully will help

That didn't work, but thanks for your help.

No, not that I know of anyway.

I forgot to say before, the wifi on my iPhone has never worked. I've only had it for a few days though.

Also, the IP shows up as 169.254.x.x. Apparently it gets that when it can connect to the server but can't be assigned an IP.

    Any other advice?

Have u checked your router settings and config . E.g Is UpNp enabled

I tried to access them but all I get is the status page with some basic information on it. It won't let me change any settings or anything. I think maybe I entered the wrong password.

Check around the router for login info , maybe on a label. If not u will need to call perlico as I think it's all down to your router and settings.

Google might be your friend , check the model number and default router address and login info etc.

Ok, I FINALLY got it to work. It seems like a silly mistake now, but oh well. I originally got my WEP key by accessing the Wireless USB thing on my computer. There was a file inside it which had some information in it, including the WEP key. So that's what I used.

Anyway, I just now logged into my router settings(I guessed the correct password) and I went to Wireless Lan settings. There was a WEP key listed there, but it was different from the one on my Wireless USB thingy. I tried using that WEP key and it worked :)

Good to hear .- was thinking it was a router rather than phone issue .

I have found that it frequently doesn't work owing to the channel being used on the router. It's quite picky and that is when the self-assigned IP manifests itself. Other wi-fi devices wlll be seen to be acting as normal.

    Try changing channels.
